Sudbury Gears Up for an Exciting Car Meet Honouring Young TikTok Car Spotters
The town of Sudbury is set to host an exciting car meet later this month, a special event organised to celebrate the passion of two young local car enthusiasts, Harry Green and Leonard Lazurca, both aged 12. This unique gathering, which has garnered significant attention, was arranged by Adrian Mayhew, a 49-year-old Sudbury resident and businessman, after he noticed the boys’ deep love for cars.
A Passion for Cars Captured on TikTok
Adrian frequently spotted Harry and Leonard standing on a grass verge near a local road, enthusiastically photographing and filming the cars that passed by. Intrigued by their dedication, Adrian struck up a conversation with the pair and was amazed by their extensive knowledge of various vehicles. He soon learned that the boys were not only capturing these moments for themselves but also sharing their footage on TikTok as part of the growing trend known as car spotting.
“I was blown away by how much these young lads knew about cars,” Adrian said. “They are true car fans, and it’s fantastic to see them channeling their passion into something so positive. They even have dreams of working in the car industry one day.”
A Community Event Like No Other
Inspired by the boys’ enthusiasm, Adrian decided to organise a car meet in their honour. He initially posted about the event on Facebook, inviting fellow car enthusiasts to join in and make it a day to remember for Harry and Leonard. The response was overwhelming.
“I just wanted to give something back to the community, especially after seeing so much negativity in the world,” Adrian explained. “These lads are some of the politest I’ve met, and they have a genuine passion for cars. It’s heartwarming to see how much support this event has received.”
The event, dubbed the H & L Car Meet, had to be relocated due to the unexpectedly high level of interest. Originally planned for a smaller venue, it has now been moved to the car park at Hevey Building Supplies, located on the Chilton Industrial Estate in Sudbury. The meet is expected to feature around 80 cars and 20 motorcycles, making it a must-attend event for car lovers of all ages.
Join the Fun and Support a Great Cause
The H & L Car Meet will take place on Saturday, August 31, starting at 12:30 PM. Car and motorcycle enthusiasts of all ages are welcome to attend and share in the excitement. In addition to the impressive array of vehicles on display, the event will also support a worthy cause, with a team from the Cancer Research shop in Sudbury on-site to collect donations.
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, ensuring that everyone can enjoy the event to the fullest. Adrian, who has been working tirelessly to organise the meet with the help of his wife Kerry, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support and hinted that future events might be on the horizon.
“I’ve had so much interest from other young car spotters and car enthusiasts,” Adrian said. “It’s been an incredible experience, and who knows? Maybe we’ll be able to arrange another meet in the future.”
